Vine-laced bridge, FW Kent Park, IA

This particular bridge has vines laced through the bottoms of its beams. I'm not sure if this was a natural occurrence or if they were deliberately woven there, but it's lovely to see in any case.

Bridge, FW Kent Park, IA

All of the bridges in FW Kent Park are old county road bridges from a century or so ago, relocated to various locations around the ponds of the park, making for some lovely picturesque crossings.

Shredded bark

This poor tree looked practically like it was molting. I don't know if this was due to damage from last year's derecho, or some other fate.

Life is a stage

Stuffed animals on a vast cardboard stage. In true pandemic-life style, that box once held a bulk quantity of toilet paper.

Easter eggs

This year, many of our Easter eggs came out in deep muddy sorts of shades thanks to the high enthusiasm of our toddler, who kept running to take back the finished eggs and pop them in the dye again.

Soaking dal

Yellow dal (lentils), soaking in a bowl overnight before we cook them, most sinking but some floating and pulled together in hexagonal patterns by surface tension.

Crocus

One of our few crocuses this spring. We've been unable to keep them planted, since the squirrels seem to love to dig them up and eat them.
