Miniature meditations on the imagery I notice as my life moves me around my country and the world.

Minature airport, near Chicago
A teensy little airport a little bit West of Chicago, where the suburbs have petered out into farms. There are so, so many of these: apparently the US has over 13,000 airports, most of which are little single-strip general aviation fields like this one. We are by far the most airplane-happy country in the world, with the second-most, Brazil, having only 4,000, and all other countries an order of magnitude less than the US (e.g., Russia has only 1,200, China has 500, and the entire EU has only 2,700).
