Minuteman Missile National Historic Monument, South Dakota
Near the Badlands in South Dakota stands a curious and chilling memorial: Minuteman Missile National Historic Site tells the story of the missiles buried beneath the high Northern plains of America, and the tense lives of the men and women who sat with them through endless quiet watches, hoping to never be called upon to act. This plaque stands at the entrance to the main museum site, quoting Sun Tzu on the superiority of warriors who can achieve victory without spilling blood.
