Spider babies

More spider babies, sprouting upright and new on the dangling stalks that bear them.

Spider babies

Another view of the spider babies, and the glasses they will go into to root.

Spider babies

Baby spider plants, snipped from their propagating mother plant and laid out to be potted.

Princess balance

One more bit of randomness from kid-space: a fully-set up and rigid princess tent, balancing at an angle off the back of our basement couch.

Sensory play

One last moment of toddler zen. We propagated our spider plants, and when I put the spider babies out the cats delightedly ate them. That left pots of dirt behind, which our little one then determinedly repurposed into a sensory play space, experimenting and experiencing with all the lovely dirt. We decided to surrender and simply vacuum frequently.

Decorated lid

And of course the coloring goes other places as well. I really like the way the crayon patterns stutter on this potty lid.

Toddler art

More strongly colored scribbles. I like her sense of color combinations.

Missing sandal

We couldn't find my older daughter's sandal. Then we closed the dining room door and discovered where her sister had carefully balanced it on the molding in service of some wonderfully inscrutable toddler project.

Sippy lids

Another artistic arrangement dominating the cat perch, this time of sippy lids only.

Sippy lids

A tumbled pile of sippy cup lids, all together in a container that was apparently significant to our toddler. Many of these are a very cute type my wife found that looks like an elephant, with you drinking from the trunk. Our little one demands them by name as "hati jal" (elephant water in Bangla).

Cup arrangement

Another view on the last arrangement of cups, bringing out the sippy lids and the nose of the pensador that they are surrounding like a shrine.

Cup arrangement

Another arrangement of cups, most empty but a few filled with colorful objects.

Cups on the cat perch

An intentional yet inscrutable toddler arrangement of cups on the cats' window perch.

Geometric blocks

Another closer view of the blocks, to bring out some of what I find interesting in its negative space.

Geometric blocks

Geometric blocks and a single d10, arranged in an aesthetically pleasing pattern by our toddler.
