Skybridge to nowhere, Davenport, IA
The Davenport Skybridge is a curious structure, going from the middle of a municipal parking lot over a not-too-busy road to the edge of the Mississippi. I mean, there is a nice view of the river from that end, but overall it feels lacking in sufficient purpose to justify it from a pragmatic view while at the same not being particularly audacious as a straight up monument / tourist attraction.

Wrong Way, Exit Only, Davenport, Iowa
I like the visions conjured up for me of "Exit Only" coming right out of the river, even though the sign actually does make more sense in context (there is a driveway parallel to the river that turns away from it in this location).
Lock and Dam No. 15, Davenport, Iowa
One of the many lock and dam locations on the mighty Mississippi, still managing the river and shifting barges up and down where rapids once stood.

Toy Car, Iowa City
I can't decide whether this would count more as celebration or denigration of one's ride, but I certainly appreciate the playful embrace of the toylike nature of the vehicle.
Distorted Paint Caps, Iowa Children's Muesum
The crafts room in the Iowa Children's Museum is directly across from a collection of funhouse mirrors, which can make some quite interesting visual combinations.

Paint caps, Iowa Children's Museum
A wall covered with caps from paint bottles and other art supplies, by the crafts room in the Iowa Children's Museum.
Make Something, Iowa Children's Museum
A lovely sign near the arts and crafts room in the Iowa Children's Museum. Having caught up on processing my photographs over the holiday, this year I plan to embrace its message further and post two photos per day rather than one.
